Sunil Grover is past Gutthi – he is now Kunwari!

After all the hype and hoopla over the feminine character he made famous in Comedy Nights with Kapil, Mr Grover is finally ready to be rechristened onscreen

Kapil Sharma and former Comedy Nights with Kapil comedian Sunil Grover parted ways on a bad note and what followed was an ugly war of words. The duo’s bone of contention was the popular character from the show – Gutthi! With Sunil claiming that neither Kapil nor the makers of CNWK had any rights to the character he essayed, Viacom 18 issued a legal notice to the contrary and things took another acrimonious turn. While Sunil’s replacement is yet to be found, there have been rumours doing the rounds about how this popular character was offered to Navin Prabhakar and Raju Srivastava. In fact, when Gaurav Gera entered as another ‘lady’ in a special guest appearance on Comedy Nights, people wondered if Mrs Pammi Pyarelal (his name on a now-defunct show) was the new Gutthi. It turned out that Pammiji played a brief role as Dulhari and made her exit.
With the battle still on and Grover’s plans of The Gutthi Show on the backburner, fans of the character can now see Sunil in a brand new avatar as Kunwari on the reality show Boogie Woogie. What’s in a name, after all! We certainly are looking forward to Gutthi urf Kunwari’s next act.

Was Vishal Bhardwaj shown the door by Nupur-Rajesh Talwar’s lawyer?

The Kaminey maker had gathered all the intricate details of the double murder trial but was shown the door by an announcement by the couple’s prosecutor. Read on to know more…

The Aarushi Talwar-Hemraj murder case is in news for almost five years now and any topic running that long would definitely have some filmmakers hovering over it to make a movie out of it. Vishal Bhardwaj was no exception. Milan Luthria and Manish Gupta were the other who had expressed a desire on the same lines as well. TheOmkara maker was scrutinising every minute detail of the case from the very beginning. Rumours also suggest that the filmmaker was in touch with the people closely associated with the trial.
Although, Nupur and Rajesh Talwar’s lawyer had lately affirmed that any movie or novel based on the double murders wouldn’t be permitted without the family’s permission and anyone doing so would have to face the court’s wrath. Now we know what put off the Maqbool maker. Also The Dirty Picture maker has dropped the idea whereas Manish Gupta maintains that his film Rahasya has no similarity and is a work of fiction.
Wethinks that Vishal Bhardwaj was definitely thinking about making a feature out of the murder case; else why would he need all the intricate inside details of the proceedings. What do you think peeps?

Tigmanshu Dhulia rubbishes rumours about Varun Dhawan rejecting Milan Talkies!

Contrary to reports, the Main Tera Hero actor hasn’t backed out of Milan Talkies and is still very much part of the film

Tigmanshu Dhulia and Ekta Kapoor’s next film Milan Talkies has been in the news ever since Imran Khan walked out of the project. Later, Shahid Kapoor also left the film, leaving the makers in a sticky situation. And recently we told you about reports doing the rounds that Varun Dhawan had rejected the film citing his tight schedule. However, that’s all just gossip, we are now told, since the Student of the Year actor will indeed play the lead. Director Tigmanshu Dhulia confirmed this in a recent interview and explained why fans will have to wait for this one.
While talking to a leading daily Dhulia said, “Who says Varun is not doing my film?Bahot hi pyara script hai. And Varun bahot likeable actor hai. We are both very happy about working together. But it will take some time. Varun has to first complete his father David Dhawan’s film. Then he goes into Sriram Raghavan’s thriller and then he has a comedy produced by Karan Johar. After this we start work on ‘Milan Talkies’ at the end of 2014.”
We are glad that the Bullett Raja director and the Balaji head honcho have finally found a hero who isn’t going to ditch their ‘we-thought-it-was-jinxed’ film.

Ranbir Kapoor: Everybody is competition from – Mr Amitabh Bachchan right down to Varun Dhawan!

Karan Johar managed to get some candid confessions from stars that no journalist has managed to so far

Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan were the most animated guests of Koffee with Karan 4. And even though Bebo looks like the clear winner of the famous hamper, RK Jr too had his ‘quotable quote’ moments. KJo quizzed Ranbir about competition, ”Are you threatened Ranbir… do you watch their work carefully?” Here’s what the Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani actor said, “Absolutely. I feel extremely jealous when somebody gives a good performance, but I consider everybody from Mr Amitabh Bachchan right down to Varun Dhawan as my competition… everybody is competition.

Manish Malhotra birthday special: 7 best looks of 2013 by the designer!

The fashion designer turns 48 today. On his birthday, we’d like to show off a few of his best designs worn by celebs through the year

Manish Malhotra turns 48 today and we’d like to wish him a happy birthday. The super talented fashion designer has created clothes for numerous actors – Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Kangna Ranaut, Shahrukh Khan, Imran Khan and many more.
Over the years, we have also seen Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sridevi, Kajol and Juhi Chawla in Manish Malhotra outfits. On his b’day, we’d like to present Manish’s best creations worn by his muses Kareena, Karisma Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Parineeti Chopra, Priyanka, Madhuri and Sridevi.
Kareena Kapoor Khan: We loved Bebo in Manish Malhotra’s sarees on two occasions. Once she was seen in an orange saree that she teamed with an equally bright yellow blouse. She carried the bright hues with great elan and we bet no one else could do it her way. Recently Kareena was seen in a colour blocked saree on the sets of a TV reality show – boy, she knows how to set temperatures high even in a desi avatar!
Priyanka Chopra: At an awards function, the Exotic babe decided to be a desi girl and was seen in a Manish Malhotra saree. The royal blue drape with a sheer-fabric pallu made her look hot, as always!
Parineeti Chopra: PeeCee’s cousin Pari might not impress with her usual dressing style, but in a Manish Malhotra outfit, the babe looked mesmerising. The lehenga did complete justice to her body type and we must say Manish rarely goes wrong!
Alia Bhatt: Manish not only designed Alia’s outfits in Student of the Year, but also what she wore to the Filmfare awards. The black and gold lehenga was so beautifully designed by Manish that we’re left speechless!
Karisma Kapoor: The blue-eyed lady was seen in a Manish Malhotra anarkali at a fashion event. In the simple white and red outfit, Karisma looked bewitchingly beautiful…
Madhuri Dixit Nene: The dhak dhak girl should be held responsible each time your heartbeat soars high. But Manish Malhotra should certainly take partial blame for that too. On the sets ofJhalak Dikhla Jaa, Madhuri was seen in a very pretty creation by Manish. The designer takes into consideration the age and image of each celeb while designing for them, hai na?
Sridevi: Sridevi has often been spotted in Manish’s designs. But the one we loved was a lehenga she had worn at a bash. She looked so classy and elegant that we fall short of words to describe her beauty…
So , send your wishes to Manish Malhotra on his 48th birthday and tell us, who do you think looks best in his creations?

Is Amar Singh a part of Bullett Raja?

Looks like the Samajwadi Party leader is a part of Saif Ali Khan-Sonakshi Sinha starrer. Read on to find out more…

Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh is all set to make his Bollywood debut withBullett Raja which stars Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles. Hold you horses. Before you jump to any conclusions, let us clarify that the politician is not really acting in the film but there is an actor in the film who resembles him.
When asked the director Tigmanshu Dhulia about the resemblance he said, “Yes, we realised that this character who plays the role of a politician in the film looks like Amar Singh, but the role is not inspired by Singh’s life”
“When we were conducting auditions for the role, we found this artist, Gyaneshwar Mishra, from Lucknow, who looked like Amar Singh. Since it was the role of a politician, we thought it would be interesting to cast him since anyone who sees him is reminded of Amar Singh, even though his character in the film has nothing to do with him,” he added.
Bullett Raja is based on the political atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh and is slated to release on November 29.

Nach Baliye 6: Will Lata Sabharwal and Sanjeev Seth be the first jodi to leave the show?

Their first two performance did not impress the judges Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Terence Lewis and Sajid Khan. So will the Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai reel and real life couple be eliminated?

Nach Baliye 6 has a motley crew of contestants. The dance reality show seems to gearing up for some dhamekedaar action, as an unusual group battles for the trophy. There are fabulous performers like Debina Bonnerjee and Gurmeet Choudhury (he won Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5, remember?), Asha Negi and Rithvik Dhanjani, Bruna Abdullah and Omar Farooque and Riddhi Dogra and Raqesh Vashith, as well as the amazing couple Raksha and Vinod Thakur and MasterchefRipu Daman Handa and Shivangi Verma. And then there are the not-quite-dancers in Raju Srivastav with patni Shikha and Kiku Sharda and his biwi Priyanka. Telly stars Amrapali Gupta and Yash Sinha and Lata Sabharwal and Sanjeev Seth (who play husband and wife on Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai) and Kanika Maheshwari and construction magnate husband Ankur Ghai. They are all having to work very hard to get positive remarks from the judges – Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Terence Lewis and Sajid Khan – because standards are set much higher this year, wethinks.
Of course there is really good dancing. Ripu and Shivangi have already won high marks, as have Debina and Gurmeet. And there is non-dancing as well, as with Raju and Shikha. But since it is a contest, somebody has to lose at some point. And we hear that eliminations have already begun. The first to go, our little buddy the birdie chirps quietly, will be TV’s favourite maa-bauji, Lata and Sanjeev, but we can confirm that only after we watch the show on the weekend. Until then, we wait to find out whether Akshara’s mum and dad will manage to dance their way into the vote bank or not!

Bigg Boss 7 diaries day 66: Did Sofia Hayat provoke Armaan Kohli?

The Chor-Police task seems to be creating a rift amongst the housemates of Bigg Boss 7

The episode kicks off showcasing the previous night where the four contestants playing thieves are desperately trying to steal the briefcase that Sangram Singh is trying to protect by staying awake through the night.
As a last resort for the night, Ajaz Khan breaks out of jail and runs towards the briefcase. Upon seeing this, Armaan Kohli panics and runs towards Ajaz catching him and placing him back in jail just before he grabbed the briefcase.
Ajaz gets frustrated
As sunlight creeps in and the wake up song is played, Ajaz enthusiastically steps out of jail and attempts to grab the briefcase – only to be stopped once again by Gauahar Khan who plonks him back behind bars. Getting frustrated on being confined to the prison, Ajaz starts whining and professes his wish to quit the task. At the same time, VJ Andy and Tanishaa Mukherji attempt to lift the briefcase. However, in the process, Andy gets hurt and he leaves the garden area in irritation.
Andy and Tanishaa bitch about Sofia
After some time, Andy and Tanishaa discuss the robbery of Gauahar’s mug and state that Sofia’s antics of trying to distract Sangram were uncalled for. In the garden area, an annoyed Ajaz says that the luxury budget task should be looked at as an eye-opener because it makes the contestants realize who their true friends are because the housemates inadvertently give more priority to the task. Sangram agrees to his views. When Armaan ventures into the garden area, Ajaz conveys to him that he is willing to quit the task and follow Armaan’s orders if he is released from jail. Looking at this positively, Armaan grants Ajaz his freedom.
Sofia provokes Armaan
With the Chor team down to 3 members, Andy soon finds himself arrested on the basis of a doubt about some missing footwear. While surrendering, he quietly asks Sofia Hayat to steal as many of the cops’ belongings as she can. In order to ensure that she meets expectations, Sofia tries to provoke Armaan by calling him a ‘User’. Hearing this, Armaan gets upset and asks her to remain quiet. However, Sofia continues and Armaan reacts to her by calling himself a good game player. With the aim to have the last word in the argument, Sofia tells Armaan to stop using his fellow contestants to win not only the task, but also the Bigg Boss game.
Sofia targets Gauahar
Moving on from Armaan, Sofia targets Gauahar and steals her jacket. Getting angry, Gauahar tells Sofia that she has lost her self-discipline and etiquettes after entering the Bigg Boss house. As theChor-Police task draws to a close, Bigg Boss introduces an additional secret task for the chorteam.
A twist in the task
Bigg Boss calls Kamya to the Confession Room and, with reference to the task, gives her some cue cards along with two trays that are labeled ‘Return’ and ‘Give Away’. Each cue card has the names of the items that were stolen during the course of the task by Andy, Sofia, Tanishaa and Ajaz. Kamya is asked to read out the names on the cue cards to these four ‘chor’ contestants who then divide them between the two trays after arriving at a mutual consensus. As all the items are personal belongings of four ‘police’ contestants, it is quite tough for Andy, Sofia, Tanisha and Ajaz to arrive at a decision. However, after much contemplation, they decide to give away Elli’s lip gloss, Armaan’s towel, and Gauahar’s photo frame along with a white coffee mug to earn an additional 1000 points.
Housemates express their to the wishing wall
As the sun was the setting, the Wishing Wall lights turn on giving the contestants an opportunity to make a wish that they would like to see fulfilled on that day. Taking advantage of this, Andy asks for not one but three things: a phone call to his brother, 20 burgers and Gauahar’s white mug that was given away as a part of their luxury budget task; and to his surprise, his wish is granted. However, given that Andy has made three different wishes, Bigg Boss asks the other housemates to decide which one should be granted. Within the blink of an eye, a decision is made and the contestants inform Bigg Boss that they want Andy to speak to his brother. But according to the rules of the wishing wall, the contestants will need to sacrifice something to ensure that Andy’s wish is fulfilled. So, Bigg Boss asks the housemates to place all the plates in the storeroom following which Andy’s wish will be granted.
Andy gets to speak to his brother
Once again, without giving it a second thought, all the housemates run to the kitchen and start stacking the plates after which they rush to the storeroom and place there them. Excited to see this, Andy starts dancing with excitement and eagerly waits to hear his brother’s voice. Later, while the housemates are eating dinner, Andy is overjoyed to hear his brother’s voice. With the plates out of the house, and Gauahar’s mug in Bigg Boss’ possession, the contestants are bound to soon lose their patience and start with the blame game. Who will be their target?

Saif Ali Khan’s Bullett Raja goes from digital to print!

Saif does it yet again. Wondering what? He has converted another film character into a comic book

Just a few months back, a graphic novel by the name The Legend of Bullett Rajawas launched. Based on Saif Ali Khan’s character in Bullett Raja, we hear that the novel was quite a hit in the digital world.
Now we hear that the filmmakers are planning to give life to his character fromBullett Raja in the comic book world. And guess who came up with this idea? Well, none other than the film’s lead, Saif Ali Khan, who is an ardent fan of comics. Earlier, Saif had also converted his film Agent Vinod into a comic. In the new comic, Saif’s character Raja Mishra will be seen in a rustic avatar and its hand drawn with an informal touch.
Well, considering the graphic novel was a hit in the digital world, we hope that Saif’s comic becomes equally popular in the print world.

Bigg Boss 7: Kushal Tandon to make a comeback in the house against Salman Khan’s wish

So, it’s finally happening, even if the Dabangg Khan doesn’t agree with the comeback of Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Haiactor

Kushal Tandon will make a comeback into the Bigg Boss 7 house against Salman Khan’s wish. Yes, you heard it right. A lot of reports were doing the rounds that Salman Khan is not convinced about Kushal’s comeback. And while Sallu is busy shooting a romantic song for his next film Jai Ho in Romania, looks like Kushal is ready to get back to his alleged love – Gauahar Khan inside the mad cap house.
The makers of the high voltage reality show too want the telly actor to be back on the show after a lot of demand from fans. While speculations were rife about Kushal’s comeback, we at Bollywoodgossipss caught up with Kushal (on phone) to clear out all the confusion. And we must say that the small screen’s pin-up boy didn’t disappoint us. While he didn’t exactly deny these reports, he dropped enough hints for us to know of his comeback.
We asked the very much in demand ex-contestant of Bigg Boss 7 about his comeback and here’s what we got, “I am very much in Mumbai right now”. Nice attempt at ducking our original question, he chose to play it safe.
Then we quizzed him if the makers of Bigg Boss had approached him for a comeback. This time thankfully he didn’t deny and said, “Yes they did get in touch with me and they want me back.”
Will he win the show if he re-enters the house, we asked. “At the end of the day, you do these shows to get love. I am going for my fans”, he said.
We also questioned him that what would he like to change inside the glass walled house and here’s what he said, ” The atmosphere.” So will the atmosphere be romantic after Kushal re-enters the house?
However Kushal didn’t end the conversation at that, when we wished him luck for the next stint inside the mad house he said he was still in Mumbai. Does that mean he wouldn’t be in the city in coming days and head to Lonavala inside the Bigg Boss house? Well, all we can do is just wait and watch

Nargis Fakhri all praises for Dhoom:3!

The Madras Café actor is all praises for the Dhoom:3 babe

When the much awaited Dhoom machale dhoom song from Dhoom:3 released, everyone took to various social networks to post their views. One among them was Nargis Fakhri. The pretty girl tweeted, “OMG! I love Katrina’s dance moves, her outfits n she is looking SMOKIN hot!” Well, it was quite surprising to see a B-townie glam girl praising one of her contemporaries, hai na?
Remember when Nargis used to hate being compared to Katrina Kaif? When thisRockstar babe had debuted opposite Kat’s alleged beau Ranbir Kapoor, a lot of comparisons were drawn between the two and Nargis hadn’t quite appreciated it. Anyways, she soon got over it and had even praised the other firangi babe forChikni Chameli. So, this isn’t the first time she took to Twitter for praising Kat.
Anyways, one can’t neglect the fact that Nargis’ rumoured boyfriend Uday Chopra is a part of Katrina and Aamir Khan’s Dhoom:3. So, she is likely to be biased towards his films’ song, no? ‘Coz frankly, this certainly isn’t Kat’s best performance. Also, do you think Nargis’ opinion can be trusted considering what else she loves… But, with female contemporaries singing praises for each other, it looks like gone are the days when there used to be cat fights…

Imran Khan: I am undoubtedly a Salman Khan fan!

The Gori Tere Pyaar Mein actor is not a fan of his star uncle Aamir Khan but instead a die hard fan of the Dabangg star

Imran Khan in a recent interview confessed that he is not a fan of Dhoom:3 star, but a Salman Khan loyalist. Imran in this interview talked about how he came unscathed out of his last flop film Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara and also confirmed that there are no plans of coming together with Aamir in a film. The actor however swore that he doesn’t miss his favourite Khan’s films…“I am undoubtedly a Salman fan. Like all his fans, I do not even ask what a Salman film is all about. I remember the posters of Ready just had his close-up. The film didn’t define a genre, it said nothing. But it was enough for Salman fans to know that on this date in June, 2011,bhai‘s film was coming and they would have to be in the theatres. That is star-power.”

Bade Acche Lagte Hain: Is Priya separating from Ram Kapoor…again?

Yes, you have heard and seen this story before many times. But we are told that the loving Kapoor couple has new trauma to deal with…

Is Ekta Kapoor making allowances for Ram Kapoor’s absence again? Or is Sakshi Tanwar, who plays Priya (Sharma) Kapoor on Bade Acche Lagte Hain going to take more time off, as she probably did while her character was in a coma? Yes, TV soapscenarios need to be fiddled and juggled to accommodate the stars’ personal lives, but the separation and coming back together of the best loved twosome on telly is getting monotonous and frankly- silly.
So why are they splitting…this time? A little back-story memory will tell you that once they had been together a while and were happy raising their twins Myrah and Pari, their elder daughter Pihu and their son (sort of, since he is actually Ram’s half-brother Siddharth Kapoor’s child) Khush. But then Priya crashes her car, goes into a coma that lasts for seven years and wakes up to find that much has changed. And the change that she has not yet been told about is, that her best friend Juhi is now in charge of the house, the children and Priya’s husband, Ram.
As she gradually starts understanding this new state of affairs and decides to take what is hers back from her buddy, she learns that a lot is not being disclosed to her. And one such truth is that Ram was planning, not too long before Priya woke up from her coma, to marry Juhi. No, not for love, but to gain custody of Juhi’s daughter Naina, preventing her ex-husband from doing so. But during the court hearing, listening to Juhi’s ‘confession’ on the stand, Priya realises that her friend is in love with Ram. And when she finds out about the wedding plans, she decides that she cannot deal with it any longer and leaves the house.
Will this actually happen? Will Ram and Priya separate once again? Or will viewers be spared that weepy story this time around? We wait to find out…

Nayanthara Finally Opens up on her relationship with Prabhu Deva and Why it ended !

30/09/2013
The comeback queen Nayanthara has conquered the hearts of millions with her immaculate performances in Raja Rani. In a recent interview to The Times of India. Nayanthara finally opened up on her relationship with Prabhu Deva and why it ended.
Here are the excerpts from the interview here

Prabhu Deva and you were heading towards marriage and suddenly everything changed. What happened?

It happens. It's not just my relationship - you take any relationship or marriage, break-ups happen. There might be misunderstandings and problems on a day-to-day basis but when it gets to a level where you cannot handle it and it goes beyond saturation point, it becomes very difficult to handle. People change, things change, situations change - so it could be probably because of that - I really don't want to get into details because it's quite personal and I don't want to talk about it to the whole world. I have always kept a dignified silence on whatever was being said and written about me. Now things have changed - when a relationship doesn't work, it doesn't work. There might be a hundred reasons for it or there might be no reason for it. When I am in a relationship, I give it my 100 per cent. But then if it doesn't work, you cannot help it. You cannot move ahead with something which isn't working.

When you got into this relationship, did you think this would happen?

Definitely not! Anything that you do in life, whether it's work or a relationship or marriage, you get into it with a lot of positivity. But I don't know whether it's destiny or whatever it just didn't work. We were probably not meant to be together...

During the time you were with Prabhu, there were a lot of stories written about how there were problems because of his ex-wife and that you didn't agree with him on certain things. Did that bother you at all?

Yes. Like I said, it's your personal space. Just because you are actors or in the show business doesn't mean that your private life is on show for everyone else. Whatever we share with each other is private and when any news leaks out, it's blown out of proportion and made out to be something else. Bad things written about me do bother me and affect me but then I have learnt to take it in my stride. I have also learnt to keep quiet about certain things. Once I start saying something, it'll turn into a never-ending story of he said, she said, they said...

Did these rumours affect your relationship with Prabhu?

No, it did not. As long as I with him, my relationship was very strong. Media reports definitely bothered us sometimes.

Then came the heartbreak, how did you deal with it?

That's too personal to get into...a break-up for anyone is the most difficult phase in their life. When you have to go away from someone you love or vice-versa, whatever the reason, it really shatters your life. But how you deal with it is important. I can't get into how I dealt with it but I have to if I want to move on and live my life.

Three and a half years invested in this relationship, have you changed as a person?

Yes, I have changed a lot as a person. I don't know whether it's for the good or the bad but I have definitely changed. (Laughs) It usually happens as when you are in a relationship you change for the other person. I think everyone does and I'm no different.

How does it feel to be single again now?

I think it's too early for me to say anything about the single space I am in right now. I was in a relationship for three and a half years so I still need to get over it completely. It'll take a lot of time.

Did you learn anything about yourself in this whole process?

I did but don't ask me what. (Laughs)

Has this failed relationship changed your perception of love?

I don't want to comment on love at all right now. That's my mental status today.

When you decided to move away from films, you were in the numero uno position in the south. Did you feel you it was a very big step to take?

It was a crucial step in life but as far as I am concerned, I am game for doing anything for love. I will do anything for love.

Any regrets all today?

No, none at all.

Have you removed the Prabhu tattoo on your hand?

I haven't - it's still there in the same place. As of now, I am planning to keep it.

Where is Shraddha Kapoor holidaying ?

The Aashiqui 2 babe finally took a break with her close friends

Shraddha Kapoor made her Bollywood debut with Aashiqui 2 which also had Aditya Roy Kapoor playing the male lead. So what about her? Well we hear that the actor finally took her most awaited holiday.
Shraddha with her close friends took a trip to Belgium, Amsterdam and Paris. Shraddha who loves to travel and explore new places planned a 10 day trip with her friends post the massive success of her debut film Aashiqui 2.
We also hear that that the actor was seen partying till wee hours with her friend and filmmaker Ayan Mukherjee and other close friends. You must be wondering what is the connection between Shraddha and Ayan. Well, apparently the two have been good friends since they were kids. The two went to same school. Sweet no?

Will Deepika Padukone join Ranveer Singh on his vacation?

Ranveer Singh is all set to go for a holiday after the completion of his Ram Leela schedule

As we had reported earlier, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have been spending quality time with each other lately at the former’s plush flat. They have also been spotted sharing cozy meals together.
The two actors who are currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ambitious project Ram Leela will take some time off and go for a vacation. Wait, before you start germinating a naughty seed in your head, let us clarify that they both are not going together.
Reportedly, Ranveer will fly to South Africa and will enjoy his 15 day vacation over there while Deepika will be heading to Dubai along with Shahrukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Farah Khan to begin shooting for Farah’s ambitious project Happy New Year that goes on floors this September.
Aww. We feel sad for the two ‘good friends’.

Is Priyanka Chopra doing dadagiri on the sets of Mary Kom?

The feisty babe we hear has been calling the shots on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ambitious project

Priyanka Chopra is fiery, ambitious and self-made B-town star. The 31-year-old has made it big in Bollywood, all on her own just like her ‘close buddy’ Shahrukh Khan did. The Fashion babe has always made an earnest attempt to push the envelope as far as her choice of roles is concerned. Even when PeeCee was going through a rough patch, she fought many battles on personal as well as professional levels. No wonder she a tough nut!
And now we hear that on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s biopic on boxer Mary Kom, it’s not the director Umang Kumar who calls the shots, but it is PeeCee’s nod that has become a must before any sequence is captured. Apparently, Kumar doesn’t go to the next shot till our Desi girl gives her approval. It seems that Umang asks everyone for his or her opinion after canning a shot.
Just the way PeeCee’s good friend Shahrukh Khan says har team main ek hi goonda hota hain…we will tweak the line a bit and say iss film ka goonda Priyanka Chopra hain!

Om Puri granted bail, flies to Britain for shooting

The veteran actor is now looking forward to start shooting for his international film The Hundred-Foot Journey

Actor Om Puri, who was accused by his wife Nandita of domestic violence, breathed a sigh of relief when he was finally granted bail. In addition to bail granted Saturday morning, he has been allowed to leave the country on professional assignment. The beleaguered actor was expected to leave for Britain late Saturday night for the shooting of his new international film The Hundred-Foot Journey with the distinguished British actress Helen Mirren.
This brings to an end a week-long drama and trauma in Om Puri’s life when his aggrieved wife Nandita accused him of domestic violence. Nandita was insistent that Om not be allowed to leave the country for his shooting.
“Luckily for me the legal system in our country is rational. Yes, I am able to leave for my shooting albeit one day late. Yesterday, on Friday, when I expected bail, the honourable judge got busy with some other case. So he could look into my case only a day later,” said Om Puri.
He has to provide a surety bond of Rs.15,000 before he leaves for Britain.
“I also have to get myself an international driving licence since I am shown driving in the film that I shoot. So, there’s a lot to do before I leave. I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to getting away from the nightmare of my life in India. I promise you I am going to do well in ‘The Hundred-Foot Journey’,” he said.

Dolly Bindra: Mumbai crime branch commisioner Himanshu Roy should be on Bigg Boss!

The motor mouth feels that Mumbai Crime branch commissioner Himanshu Roy is very handsome and she wants to see his tough-cop act on the reality show Bigg Boss

We bumped into Dolly Bindra at a photography exhibition held in Mumbai recently. Dressed in black tee and denims with a shocking pink hat sitting atop her head, Dolly was in high ‘sprits’! Why has she been missing from the screen, we asked.” they can’t afford me, monetarily speaking,” said Dolly.
Dolly loves art, music and films. But aren’t artists in India facing the wrath from being liberal, at times politically incorrect? ” There’s nothing wrong with our freedom of expression. It’s just that everyone want their shops to be highlighted. Sabko apnei dukaan chalu rakhni hain aur chalani hain,” said Dolly.
The buzz about Bigg Boss season seven is making a buzz. Dolly has also been on the show and gained the much-needed popularity from the glass-walled house. So how has the experience been and who would she like to see on the show this season? ” I will always want to experience myself being there. Bigg Boss has always been a favourite show of mine. I want Himanshu Roy to be on the show this season, he’s so handsome,” said the colourful babe with her trademark throaty laughter.

Zanjeer song Khochey Pathan ki zuban: Sukhwinder Singh makes this qawwali worth listening!

This qawwali from Zanjeer 2.0 surely reminds of you of the hit number Yaari hai imaan mera from the original

The new song Khochey Pathan ki zuban from Priyanka Chopra, Ram Charan Teja and Sanjay Dutt starrer Zanjeer 2.0 is fortunately a good hear considering the music albumotherwise isn’t too impressive. Sanjay Dutt fans will specially love this qawwali as the actor is seen grooving in the song along with Ram Charan Teja and their chemistry is surprisingly good. However, it is singer Sukhwinder Singh who takes away the cake here. His melodious and energetic gives that extra edge to the song which has been written by Shabbir Ahmed and composed by Meet Bros Anjjan Ankit.
While Manna Dey’s Yaari hai imaan mera from the original Zanjeer is an iconic song, the composers of the remake have made a good attempt at creating a qawwali on similar lines.

Is Irrfan Khan jobless because he doesn’t belong to any Bollywood camp?

He has some of the best films under his belt, is a versatile actor and a rare gem of B-town who has made it big in Hollywood. But still, Irrfan confesses he’s jobless!

Irrfan Khan, who is busy promoting The Lunchbox that’s releasing in September, confessed that he has no film that will go on the floors after this one. He said in an interview, “I am jobless, and I don’t have any projects… I’m just reading scripts right now.”
The actor turned down Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Bullett Raja citing date problems; he even missed an opportunity to work with Hollywood director Christopher Nolan in Interstellarbecause he couldn’t stay away from home for long due to his commitments for D-Day.
The actor is one of the few from the industry who said that camps do exist in Bollywood and he doesn’t belong to any of them. “I am fortunate that I could carry myself on my own. I didn’t need anybody’s help. Sometimes you have to do things which you don’t want to be with the ‘camp-giris‘. I don’t enjoy that and this is my limitation actually,” he said.
We like this Khan, not only for not flaunting the ‘Khan’ or the ‘Hollywood export’ tag but also for talking his heart out without mincing any words!

Boss title track: Akshay Kumar ups his antics!

After his gangster flick Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobara tanked at the box office, Akshay Kumar is now gearing up for his yet another action flick – Boss. Besides Akki, the movie stars Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead. And here’s the title track Boss of the movie sung by Meet Bros Anjjan Ankit and Yo Yo Honey Singh. The music is by Meet Bros Anjjan Ankit.
Much like the quirky smashing dialogues, the lyrics of the song too are great fun to hear. In the video we see Akshay doing daredevil stunts. Akki stands tall on the tilted SUV and packs an entreating punch. Mind you, this is the film in which Akshay has shot maximum number of action sequences and will hit the screens on October 16.

Is Katrina Kaif getting cynical?

The Dhoom: 3 gal is certainly saying a lot, even with her silence – don’t you think so?

Katrina Kaif’s back from a loooooong holiday – after her sister’s wedding in London and, of course, that much talked about getaway (or three) with beau Ranbir Kapoor to sunny beach locales Kat is back in the city. And she made a very strong statement as she walked out of the airport wearing a black T-shirt, jeans and ankle boots. Katrinaseemed in a defensive mood – at least, that’s what the beauty’s body language suggests. Despite arriving seemingly solo, she paid no attention to the photo-bugs watching her every move as she made her exit. Extremely guarded and constantly conversing with someone on the phone – was it Ranboo on the other end? – she refused to acknowledged the paparazzi waiting for her and would not even smile. If the actor’s serious face wasn’t enough to put us off, the words on her T-shirt definitely make us step back a bit. It said, ‘Hardened Cynical &*@$%#$!’ Was Ms K angry, annoyed with the shutterbugs for invading her privacy, or reacting to someone over the phone? We can only wait to find out. Until then, we speculate.
But whatever the reason for her frowns, we certainly are missing the cool and relaxed Katrina Kaif– could she please come back and wow us with her lovely smile again soon?

Rituparno Ghosh 50th birth anniversary: Remembering the genius filmmaker

August 31 is the late filmmaker’s birth anniversary. Two of his close associates and his brother remember the genius on the occasion, also talking about his last film Satyanweshi

Born on August 31, 1963, it’s late filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh‘s 50th birth anniversary today. Revered as a brilliant chronicler of human relationships, Ghosh forged strong personal ties with his co-workers from different strata of society and nurtured them as his surrogate family. Two of his colleagues – one a reputed designer and the other a humble driver – recall Ghosh as a true professional who had an affectionate side for the cast and crew, thereby endearing him to all. He would go all the way for them, disregarding social barriers.
“Ritu da (elder brother in Bengali) had this amazing quality to build and nurture a surrogate family around him. I was fortunate to be part of this family,” said Darshan Shah, Founder and Trustee of Weavers Studio, a textile design firm.
Ghosh died of a heart attack May 30.
What costumes did Rituparno Ghosh plan for Satyanweshi?
Shah and her team had been working closely with him for the costumes for Satyanweshi - the director’s last film. Produced by Shree Venkatesh Films, Ghosh’s swansong features filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh as Byomkesh Bakshi and Bengali actors Anindya Chatterjee, Arpita Chatterjee, Sibaji Bandyopadhyay and Indraneil Sengupta in key roles in this detective thriller. (A Facebook posting says the film is due for a September release though the date has not been specified.)
“Ritu da narrated the story of Satyanweshi in short and highlighted what clothes and costumes each character would wear and the look of each of the actors – the period, the different settings, from the Zamindarbadi (Zamindar’s household) to when they would travel and the influences would have to also be in sync as the movie progressed,” Shah explained.
Possessing a clarity of vision about how the script would progress, a sense of aesthetics and the nuances he expected from his actors, Ghosh got the best out of his team. “He challenged us with deadlines but always thanked us for our efficiency,” Shah noted.
The sartorial elegance in Ghosh’s films is the evidence of his love of natural earthy organic textiles, his eye for detail and a penchant for the vintage.
For Satyanweshi, Ghosh chose exquisite tussar silk (raw silk produced in Malda district of West Bengal that has a dull gold sheen) and organic cotton. “The men were to be either in dhoti Punjabis (kurtas) in organic cottons, hand-reeled tussars and sometimes with an elegant tussar matka shawl draped over their shoulders or be dressed in simple old-fashioned trousers and shirts when the scene changed and the location changed. “He told us what type of collar, buttons, zip and pleats he wanted for the trousers and shirts,” said Shah.
Ghosh guided Shah’s team and chose the sarees that Aloka (the character portrayed by Arpita) would be wearing and selected the type and fabric for the blouse. “He told us how he wanted it styled and chose the accessories carefully from a wide range of Narayan Sinha’s artistic creations to Amrapali’s traditional pieces. For some costumes, he just asked us to convert a piece of textile and put a border and define it and make it like a saree.”
Did Rituparno Ghosh’s crew members make fun of his sexuality?
Tarakeshwar Shaw, who currently chauffeurs for a government undertaking, had a chance to rub shoulders with the “gentleman” as part of his crew. Ritu da, for Shaw, was a disciplinarian, yet friendly with all. “He used to be elated if crew members showed up on time. Especially if the set, camera and lighting were all ready before the cast arrived. He used to call me up to ensure whether I would make it on time. He used to ask ‘Ki Taraka, time e chole ashbe toh?’ (Tarak, will you be on time?),” said Shaw.
During his decade-long tryst as a crew member in the Bengali film industry, Shaw (now in his late 40s) used to ferry cameras and other essential production staples. He drove a car packed to the brim with equipment during the filming of Ghosh’s Bariwali (1999), Shubho Mahurat (2002) and Chokher Bali (2003).
Shaw recalls Ghosh having a casual attitude on set. He insisted that all should lunch and dine together. Moreover, Ghosh preferred the same team for his subsequent films. However, his homosexuality made him a constant target of jokes. “He was mocked by some technicians because of his effeminate mannerisms. He used to speak in a ladylike manner and some people on set used to answer him back in the same way. But he never complained and took it stoically,” Shaw revealed.
He reacted in the same way when his brother Indranil Ghosh, an art director in the regional film industry, distanced himself because of his sexual preferences, Shaw added. Indranil is now remorseful. “I have lost everyone…my parents and now my brother. I don’t want to comment…I just want to get out of this whole thing,” said a grief-stricken Indranil.
Ghosh’s premature death at the age of 49 due to cardiac arrest shocked industry insiders, Bollywood and his fans.
