Is Irrfan Khan jobless because he doesn’t belong to any Bollywood camp?

He has some of the best films under his belt, is a versatile actor and a rare gem of B-town who has made it big in Hollywood. But still, Irrfan confesses he’s jobless!

Irrfan Khan, who is busy promoting The Lunchbox that’s releasing in September, confessed that he has no film that will go on the floors after this one. He said in an interview, “I am jobless, and I don’t have any projects… I’m just reading scripts right now.”
The actor turned down Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Bullett Raja citing date problems; he even missed an opportunity to work with Hollywood director Christopher Nolan in Interstellarbecause he couldn’t stay away from home for long due to his commitments for D-Day.
The actor is one of the few from the industry who said that camps do exist in Bollywood and he doesn’t belong to any of them. “I am fortunate that I could carry myself on my own. I didn’t need anybody’s help. Sometimes you have to do things which you don’t want to be with the ‘camp-giris‘. I don’t enjoy that and this is my limitation actually,” he said.
We like this Khan, not only for not flaunting the ‘Khan’ or the ‘Hollywood export’ tag but also for talking his heart out without mincing any words!

Boss title track: Akshay Kumar ups his antics!

After his gangster flick Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobara tanked at the box office, Akshay Kumar is now gearing up for his yet another action flick – Boss. Besides Akki, the movie stars Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead. And here’s the title track Boss of the movie sung by Meet Bros Anjjan Ankit and Yo Yo Honey Singh. The music is by Meet Bros Anjjan Ankit.
Much like the quirky smashing dialogues, the lyrics of the song too are great fun to hear. In the video we see Akshay doing daredevil stunts. Akki stands tall on the tilted SUV and packs an entreating punch. Mind you, this is the film in which Akshay has shot maximum number of action sequences and will hit the screens on October 16.

Is Katrina Kaif getting cynical?

The Dhoom: 3 gal is certainly saying a lot, even with her silence – don’t you think so?

Katrina Kaif’s back from a loooooong holiday – after her sister’s wedding in London and, of course, that much talked about getaway (or three) with beau Ranbir Kapoor to sunny beach locales Kat is back in the city. And she made a very strong statement as she walked out of the airport wearing a black T-shirt, jeans and ankle boots. Katrinaseemed in a defensive mood – at least, that’s what the beauty’s body language suggests. Despite arriving seemingly solo, she paid no attention to the photo-bugs watching her every move as she made her exit. Extremely guarded and constantly conversing with someone on the phone – was it Ranboo on the other end? – she refused to acknowledged the paparazzi waiting for her and would not even smile. If the actor’s serious face wasn’t enough to put us off, the words on her T-shirt definitely make us step back a bit. It said, ‘Hardened Cynical &*@$%#$!’ Was Ms K angry, annoyed with the shutterbugs for invading her privacy, or reacting to someone over the phone? We can only wait to find out. Until then, we speculate.
But whatever the reason for her frowns, we certainly are missing the cool and relaxed Katrina Kaif– could she please come back and wow us with her lovely smile again soon?

Rituparno Ghosh 50th birth anniversary: Remembering the genius filmmaker

August 31 is the late filmmaker’s birth anniversary. Two of his close associates and his brother remember the genius on the occasion, also talking about his last film Satyanweshi

Born on August 31, 1963, it’s late filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh‘s 50th birth anniversary today. Revered as a brilliant chronicler of human relationships, Ghosh forged strong personal ties with his co-workers from different strata of society and nurtured them as his surrogate family. Two of his colleagues – one a reputed designer and the other a humble driver – recall Ghosh as a true professional who had an affectionate side for the cast and crew, thereby endearing him to all. He would go all the way for them, disregarding social barriers.
“Ritu da (elder brother in Bengali) had this amazing quality to build and nurture a surrogate family around him. I was fortunate to be part of this family,” said Darshan Shah, Founder and Trustee of Weavers Studio, a textile design firm.
Ghosh died of a heart attack May 30.
What costumes did Rituparno Ghosh plan for Satyanweshi?
Shah and her team had been working closely with him for the costumes for Satyanweshi - the director’s last film. Produced by Shree Venkatesh Films, Ghosh’s swansong features filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh as Byomkesh Bakshi and Bengali actors Anindya Chatterjee, Arpita Chatterjee, Sibaji Bandyopadhyay and Indraneil Sengupta in key roles in this detective thriller. (A Facebook posting says the film is due for a September release though the date has not been specified.)
“Ritu da narrated the story of Satyanweshi in short and highlighted what clothes and costumes each character would wear and the look of each of the actors – the period, the different settings, from the Zamindarbadi (Zamindar’s household) to when they would travel and the influences would have to also be in sync as the movie progressed,” Shah explained.
Possessing a clarity of vision about how the script would progress, a sense of aesthetics and the nuances he expected from his actors, Ghosh got the best out of his team. “He challenged us with deadlines but always thanked us for our efficiency,” Shah noted.
The sartorial elegance in Ghosh’s films is the evidence of his love of natural earthy organic textiles, his eye for detail and a penchant for the vintage.
For Satyanweshi, Ghosh chose exquisite tussar silk (raw silk produced in Malda district of West Bengal that has a dull gold sheen) and organic cotton. “The men were to be either in dhoti Punjabis (kurtas) in organic cottons, hand-reeled tussars and sometimes with an elegant tussar matka shawl draped over their shoulders or be dressed in simple old-fashioned trousers and shirts when the scene changed and the location changed. “He told us what type of collar, buttons, zip and pleats he wanted for the trousers and shirts,” said Shah.
Ghosh guided Shah’s team and chose the sarees that Aloka (the character portrayed by Arpita) would be wearing and selected the type and fabric for the blouse. “He told us how he wanted it styled and chose the accessories carefully from a wide range of Narayan Sinha’s artistic creations to Amrapali’s traditional pieces. For some costumes, he just asked us to convert a piece of textile and put a border and define it and make it like a saree.”
Did Rituparno Ghosh’s crew members make fun of his sexuality?
Tarakeshwar Shaw, who currently chauffeurs for a government undertaking, had a chance to rub shoulders with the “gentleman” as part of his crew. Ritu da, for Shaw, was a disciplinarian, yet friendly with all. “He used to be elated if crew members showed up on time. Especially if the set, camera and lighting were all ready before the cast arrived. He used to call me up to ensure whether I would make it on time. He used to ask ‘Ki Taraka, time e chole ashbe toh?’ (Tarak, will you be on time?),” said Shaw.
During his decade-long tryst as a crew member in the Bengali film industry, Shaw (now in his late 40s) used to ferry cameras and other essential production staples. He drove a car packed to the brim with equipment during the filming of Ghosh’s Bariwali (1999), Shubho Mahurat (2002) and Chokher Bali (2003).
Shaw recalls Ghosh having a casual attitude on set. He insisted that all should lunch and dine together. Moreover, Ghosh preferred the same team for his subsequent films. However, his homosexuality made him a constant target of jokes. “He was mocked by some technicians because of his effeminate mannerisms. He used to speak in a ladylike manner and some people on set used to answer him back in the same way. But he never complained and took it stoically,” Shaw revealed.
He reacted in the same way when his brother Indranil Ghosh, an art director in the regional film industry, distanced himself because of his sexual preferences, Shaw added. Indranil is now remorseful. “I have lost everyone…my parents and now my brother. I don’t want to comment…I just want to get out of this whole thing,” said a grief-stricken Indranil.
Ghosh’s premature death at the age of 49 due to cardiac arrest shocked industry insiders, Bollywood and his fans.

Why is Kalki Koechlin miffed?

Kalki who looks like a calm and cool chick lost her cool at a fashion show! Read on to know why

Rumors about Kalki Koechlin’s failing marriage with Anurag Kashyap have created quite a buzz. Recently, at Glamour Style Week 2013, Kalki was supposed to walk the ramp. It was reported that designers Riddhi and Siddhi taunted her and called her a ‘mentally disturbed’ woman!
Apparently, the designers were ‘disgusted’ with Kalki’s antics and they pinned the blame on her marriage which has gone kaput due to Anurag’s fondness for Huma Qureshi. As Kalki didn’t get to give her side of the story, she took to the social networking sites to vent out her frustration at the designer duo.
Kalki tweeted, “After a 4hour wait in lehenga, jewellery make up they have the gall to call me mentally disturbed! Riddhi Siddhi, dp designers shame on you! Not seen a more disorganised show than #glamourstyleweek2013 where the organisers called me off the ramp when I’m the showstopper! No wonder actors turn into divas.”
The Dev D actor didn’t stop till she was calm. In another tweet she said, “That’s the only language some people understand. By the way I am mentally disturbed but its certainly not because of my hubby;).”
Though the Ek Thi Daayan actor took to Twitter, she refused to speak about the matter. She said, “Please speak to my manager as I am working right now. I don’t want to get distracted with this.” Hmmm… Calm down, pretty lady!

Why is Ekta Kapoor playing the blame game?

After blaming Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar for Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara’s failure, it seems that Ekta’s new target is Imran Khan.

First she blamed Shahrukh Khan for the poor box-office response of her film Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbaai Dobaara (OUATIMD). Reportedly, OUATIMD was supposed to release on Eid but after few months it was revealed that Shahrukh Khan and Rohit Shetty will also release Chennai Express on Eid. Ekta agreed to reschedule OUATIMDbut on one condition that the makers of Chennai Express will withdraw the film on August 15 to make way for OUATIMD in at least 2000 halls across the country but that didn’t happened as Chennai Express was doing very good business at the Box Office.
Then the TV moghul’s next target was none other than the lead actor of her own film. Yes, you read it right. Apparently, Balaji head honcho was miffed with Akshay Kumar for not promoting OUATIMD in full swing. Akki’s attitude irked the TV queen.
After SRK and Akki, Ekta has now started blaming Imran Khan who was also a part of OUATIMD. Buzz is that Ekta is having a lot of differences with Imran because the latter did not agree with some of Kapoor’s promotional strategies. We hear that the rift has widened so much that Imran has been replaced by Shahid Kapoor in Ekta’s next production, Milan Talkies, which is being directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. When Ekta was asked about this replacement, she said, “People have different opinions, and they don’t always need to agree with each other. Milan Talkies needs a certain amount of aggression and push. I’m not commenting on any actor; I find it embarrassing to discuss that.”
Well, Imran Khan isn’t the one to sit quietly and take such jibes. He said, “I feel that talking about this won’t help. Besides, there’s no point speaking about what has happened in the past. Out of respect for Jeetuji, I won’t say anything about this.”
Well, after making SRK, Akshay Kumar and Imran her target, we wonder who would be Ekta’s next target?

Madras Cafe: No show in Tamil Nadu

The film could not make it to theatres in the state

The Hindi and Tamil versions of John Abraham-starrer Madras Cafe were granted a U/A certificate for release, but the political thriller didn’t hit the screens here Friday as theatre owners refused to screen the film following protests by Tamil activists.
The movie had received a green signal by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). But while bookings opened for all other Friday releases in multiplexes, Madras Cafe was not included. The decision to screen or not rests in the hands of individual theatres and multiplexes.
A senior member of The Theatre Owners’ Association, told IANS: “The decision to release the film has been given to individual theatres. Since the government has not banned the film, the theatres are free to screen. But if they feel they might face the wrath of protestors, then we can’t do anything.”
Madras Cafe is set against the Sri Lankan civil war and also depicts the 1991 assassination of former Indian prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. It came under the scanner after Tamil activists alleged that it portrays the LTTE cadres as terrorists.
Multiplexes fear that releasing the film could make matters worse. “We fear releasing the film might aggravate the ongoing protests. We don’t want to risk it and, moreover, the decision to screen the film lies with each theatre,” a multiplex representative, on condition of anonymity, told IANS. Also featuring Nargis Fakhri, Rashi Khanna, Ajay Rathnam and Leena Maria Paul, Madras Cafe is a fictional story inspired by true events.
On Thursday, the Tamil version of Madras Cafe was granted a U/A certificate with no cuts for release in Tamil Nadu.A representative of the movie’s co-producers Viacom18 Motion Pictures said they had also sought police protection to ensure a smooth release of the film.
Co-produced by John Abraham, who is also playing the lead in it, the film was shown here as part of a special preview Aug 18. The objection against the film by protestors grew stronger thereafter. Tamil filmmaker Seeman, head of Naam Tamizhar (We Tamils) group, said the film was “nauseatingly anti-Tamil”.
In a related development, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Tamil Nadu unit chief Pon Radhakrishnan had said the movie should not be released in any part of the country.

Is Deepika Padukone ready for a relationship after Ranbir Kapoor?

The Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani star recently admitted that post her break-up with the Besharam actor, she wants to take it easy. This, she insists, is certainly not the time to get into a relationship

Even though Deepika Padukone has spoken about her ex-boyfriend and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani co-star Ranbir Kapoor on numerous occasions at length, and says that she still loves him – though she may not be in love with him – she knows how to take some really uncomfortable questions in her graceful stride.
“This is not the time and I’m not ready for it. But I’m sure it will happen when it has to. I hope it’s not a permanent situation. I’m hoping that that will change at some point. But I’m sure it will happen when it has to. I’m not going to keep talking to the flowers every morning,” maintains Padukone.
Recently the leggy lass and her movie Ram Leela co-star Ranveer Singh have been spending quality time together at Deepika’s plush flat, we hear. Dippy’s neighbors allege that Ranveer frequents her luxurious apartment and they are often seen sharing cozy meals together. Are they friends of ‘good friend’ or what? We want to know!
There’s no denying that the Chennai Express star has reached the pinnacle of success and has raced ahead of her contemporaries, but what has that got to do with her seeing or not seeing anyone? Any answers, Dippy?

The Lunchbox movie review: A lunchbox full of delight and truly wholesome!

Ritesh Batra’s The Lunchbox is like a breath of fresh air and will certainly leave a big smile on your face by the time you exit the theatres

The Lunchbox (Dabba) starring Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a bittersweet love story about two strangers who have never met and communicate only through notes. Set in the backdrop of Bombay, Irrfan (Saajan Fernandes) is a widowed employee who works for the government of India and is about to retire after 35 years of service. Nimrat (Ila) is a housewife whose life revolves around her daughter Yashvi and husband Rajeev, who has lost all interest in her. So to spice up her dull marriage life, Ila decides to cook a delicious lunch for her hubby which would be delivered at his office by dabbawallahs. Yes, the famous dabbawallahs, whose impeccable working mechanism is synonymous with Mumbai and continues to bemuse one and all.
So the story takes off when the dabba prepared by Ila lands up at Saajan’s desk. The next day Ila sends a note along with the dabba and Saajan reverts with a note too. From discussing food to confessing their innermost feelings, Ila and Saajan keep exchanging notes and end up finding a confidante in each other. And finally they decide to meet. But do they come face-to-face? Well, we aren’t going to give it all away so you need to watch the film for that!
The old-fashioned romance between Ila and Saajan reminds you of the time when there were no mobile phones and people wrote letters to their near and dear ones. Besides the two lead actors, there is Nawazuddin (Aslam Shaikh), who is hired to replace Saajan after he retires. While Saajan doesn’t like Shaikh initially, the two slowly become fond of each other and establish a father-son like relationship, which is very endearing. Nawazuddin’s comic timing is bang on throughout and it’s an absolute delight to watch him and Irrfan share the screen. Then there is Bharati Achrekar (Mrs Deshpande), who lives just above Ila’s home. You don’t get to see her even once, but you hear her voice. Every conversation between Ila and Mrs Deshpande aka Aunty is engaging and funny.
All the characters have been defined nicely by the debutant director. From the train sequences to how the dabbawallahs work and then linking the Hindu Ila with the Christian Fernandes and the Muslim Shaikh, first-time filmmaker Ritesh Batra has captured the real essence of diverse Bombay beautifully in the film.
As far as acting is concerned, Irrfan plays the part of a lonely old man effortlessly. Nimrat and Nawazuddin are flawless in this old-world charm, unconventional love story. Lastly, what kept lingering in the mind even after the movie was long over were these lines: We forget things if we have no one to tell them to, and sometimes, even the wrong train can take you to the right destination.
If you are looking to watch a masala entertainer then The Lunchbox won’t appeal to you. But if meaningful cinema is your craving then this is one film you wouldn’t want to miss. FYI: Every time Ila packs the lunchbox, the oh-so mouth-watering food leaves you hungry!

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6 promo: Bharti Singh, Sanaya Irani, Priyanka Chopra kick up a storm!

It’s an action packed weekend filled with special guests, comic dancing and a few surprise acts on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

This week’s theme ‘teen ka tadka’ began with Bharti Singh’s entry as a host with Manish Paul and Kapil Sharma. All eyes darted from Bharti to judge Remo D’souza ‘coz of their obvious…ahem … relationship.
Last week itself the names of the tadkas who were to join the contestants was revealed to us. But we were not told who will be partnering up with whom. Nonetheless we had a clue; Sanaya Irani joined hands with Drashti Dhami, Darsheel Safary with Sonali-Sumanth, Mumaith did the Lungi dance with Sana Saeed, Rithvik Dhanjani who grooved with Lauren Gottileb and Punit did a comic act enacting Madhuri Dixit, Remo and Karan Johar. Hazel Keech joined Shaan’s team while Ragini Khanna did a sizzling act with Mukti Mohan.
To make the dance reality show more special and to promote their upcoming movie Zanjeer,Priyanka Chopra and South sensation Ram Charan Teja made an appearance. While PC was as usual her bubbly self, Ram Charan kept his speech to the minimum.

Why did Amitabh Bachchan congratulate Salman Khan?

No, the Dabangg actor is not getting married though we would love to see him take the plunge

Salman Khan who entered the world of films in 1988 recently completed 25 glorious years in Bollywood. And that’s the reason why megastar Amitabh Bachcancongratulated the bhai of Bollywood. Mr Bachchan and Salman have worked together in films like BaghbanBaabul and were last seen together onscreen five years ago inGod Tussi Great Ho. While the two stars have not shared screen space as often as their fans would like, they have always maintained cordial relationship.
So when we caught up with the Shehenshah of Bollywood at the Kaun Banega Crorepati press conference, he didn’t shy away from acknowledging Sallu’s achievement. “My best wishes to him (Salman). 25 years is Bollywood is not a small thing. Today he is one of the top male actors in the industry. So congratulations to him” said the KBC host and superstar.
We are sure Salman is happy to have received good wishes from the iconic actor of Indian cinema.

Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha’s Rambo Rajkumar to get new name…again?

Instead of Namak, the makers of the Shahid Kapoor-Sonakshi Sinha starrer opted for Rambo Rajkumar just about six months ago, so why are they looking to change it?

Following up on popular film titles, Shahid Kapoor, Prabhu Deva and the producers ofRambo Rajkumar have decided to go for a name change for their new film. The action comedy that was initially being made under the working title of Namak was then calledRambo Rajkumar…until now. Why? because for the Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha starrer, which will be an out-and-out masala entertainer, the makers apparently wanted a more catchy title, since they felt Namak wasn’t spicy enough.
But don’t forget that the producers of this Prabhu Deva directorial have registered optional titles such as Macho RajkumarRaja Rajkumar and Rowdy Rajkumar. “We registered these titles to give an Indian touch and might use it for a prequel or a sequel. But as of now, we’ve sent a few more titles for registration and keeping our options open to block suitable titles for the prequel/sequel,” explained producer Viki Rajan.
We prefer Rambo Rajkumar rather than any of these new titles – Macho (which one can’t really associate Shahid with), Raja (maybe) or Rowdy (ew!) or something else (hmmmm). Well, we hope that for Shahid’s sake the luck of Rajkumar rubs off on him and his film, since the Kaminey star badly needs a hit. As far as Prabhu Deva is concerned, wethinks he will do fine, especially considering the fact that he has his lucky mascot Sonakshi on board. What say, peeps?

Anil Kapoor to make a special appearance on Balika Vadhu and Madhubala

Colors recently launched the trailer of the west inspired TV series24 and Anil will soon start promoting it on other shows

Anil Kapoor has negotiated and given his all to get the television series 24 to India and has worked even harder to shoot and finally get a channel to support him with the show. While most believe that the series will not be able to match up to the international series, Anil Kapoor says he is not worried about it. “I am not tensed, nervous or worried about 24. I have given it my all and I know for sure it will be appreciated ‘coz such a show has never been made before. We all are hopeful, fingers crossed and the audience should decide once it comes on TV. If you think I am nervous, then no, I am not nervous at all. In my career, whenever I have done something out-of-the-box, I have never been nervous.”
So will 24 give a tough competition to Balika Vadhu and Madhubala? “24 is in a league of its own. Moreover I will soon be seen on Balika VadhuMadhubala Ek Ishq Ek JunoonBigg Boss 7 promoting my show,” added Anil.

Madhuri Dixit, Jaya Bachchan to be honoured with Lacchu Maharaj Award

Previous recipients of the honour include Asha Parekh, Kumkum, Sridevi, Jaya Prada and Rekha

Film actor and Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan, along with actor Madhuri Dixit, will be getting the prestigious Lacchu Maharaj Award this year. An announcement to this effect was made by the organisers, Shakuntala Neeruj Sansthan. Director of the institute, Kumkum Adarsh, said that while Bachchan would be awarded for 2012, Dixit will be given the honour for 2013.
The award was constituted in memory of Kathak exponent Lacchu Maharaj, who died in 1978. In the past, Asha Parekh, Kumkum, Sridevi, Jaya Prada and Rekha have won it.
Pandit Birju Maharaj, who represents the Lucknow gharana of Kathak dance, and is also the nephew of Lacchu Maharaj, has previously been honoured with the award. Lacchu Maharaj had choreographed Bachchan in the film Ek Nazar (1972).
Sitara Devi, an exponent of classical Kathak whom Rabindranath Tagore named Nritya Samragini – empress of dance – has also received the award in recognition of her contribution to dance.
In the past, the awards were given away September 1, to coincide with the birth anniversary of the late dance exponent. This year, however, officials said the availability of the actors was being ascertained to finalise the award distribution programme.

Priyanka Chopra’s Planes movie review: Been there, seen that!

The animation film is the usual underdog story and offers nothing new to audiences

Film: Planes; Voiceovers: Dane Cook, Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, Carlos Alazraqui, Priyanka Chopra, Teri Hatcher, Roger Craig Smith; Director: Klay Hall
Set in a vehicular world, Planes is an underdog story complete with a bit of romance, plucky sidekicks, arrogant bad guys and dumb henchmen. The story begins in Lincoln, Nebraska, where our protagonist, the ambitious crop-duster Dusty Crophopper (voiceover by Dane Cook), with a single engine and propeller dreams of participating in the annual international flying race called Wings Around The Globe.
Dusty is encouraged by his motley group of friends that include the feisty forklift Dottie (Teri Hatcher) and the growly fuel truck, Duff (Brad Garrett). He qualifies for the grand race. But mere practice and encouragement from friends does not ensure winning.
After seeing Dusty’s determination, Skipper Riley (Stacy Keach) the veteran retired World War II squadron leader, whose motto is ‘Bono Proveritas – I fly for truth’, decides to help him.
Though Dusty is a good flyer, the issue here is not only speed but the fact that he is afraid of heights. He is scared of flying over 1,000 feet. So Skipper educates Dusty with the norms of speed-flying and draws a strategy on navigation, endurance and speed for him.
The grand race spans over six legs – New York to Iceland to Germany to India to Nepal to China to Mexico. It is witnessed by over 136 nations has 41 contestants participating from various countries. Prominent among them are the three-time racing champion Ripslinger (Roger Craig Smith) as the high-tech arrogant New Yorker, one of the earlier winners in the fray Ishani (Priyanka Chopra) portrayed as the sly Indian, the smitten Mexican El Chupacabra (Carlos Alazraqui). There is also Sky Slycer, Bulldog, Power Propellers and many more.
To add zing to the narration there is a fleet of naval aircraft, a mariachi band and a whole list of supporters.
The voices of the star cast strikingly synchronise with their characters. The film, though verbose, is loaded with pretty good one-liners that keep you chuckling often. Witty one-liners like, “I don’t cry, I am British,” and the sarcastic, “We all know where nice guys finish” highlight cultural stereotypes.
The background score is good. The song Fly high would interest the Indian audience, since it issung by Priyanka. The other song I am just a love machine, I work for nobody but you, has interesting lyrics and is worth a mention.
Though entertaining, the plot in Klay Hall-directed Planes lacks novelty. Dusty’s challenges are exciting but formulaic and the result predictable. Scenes and the underdog theme seem to be lifted from films like Cars and the recently released, Turbo.
Graphically the computer-generated animated images are good. The planes are classically anthropomorphised, but then, being a vehicular world the scope is limited and it gets visually tedious.
Over all, Planes would leave you with the feeling of, been there, seen that.

Hrithik Roshan back in superhero mode in Krrish 2: new posters!

After a lot of anticipation since the Krrish 3 teaser was first released, we bring you the Hrithik’s look in the film

With names like Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Kangna Ranaut and Vivek Oberoi in the cast, our expectations from Krrish 3 are peaking. Though we were a little disappointed to see just Hrithik on the first official poster of his look, we really liked the way our superhero stands tall among towering structures. The whole ambience reminded us of Christopher Nolan’s Batman film The Dark Knight Rises.
Though Krrish, the earlier version of Hrithik’s film, was targeted at kids, it doesn’t seem to be the case with Krrish 3. At least that’s what the posters suggest. Produced under Rakesh Roshan’s Filmkraft Productions (India) Pvt Ltd, the film boasts of international talent with action by Tony Ching Siu Tung (Hong Kong) along with Sham Kaushal and sound design by Baylon Fonseca. Rajesh Roshan has composed the music with the background score by Salim-Sulaiman.
Krrish 3’s first trailer – that will be out today at 4pm – hits theatres this Friday along with the release of Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s Chennai Express.
The Hrithik-starrer will release this Diwali on November 4. It’s the first time that a Bollywood film is coming out on a Monday. Will you watch it?

Will Salman Khan revisit his judwaa act in Sooraj Barjatya’s Bade Bhaiya?

According to a new report in a popular trade weekly, Salman Khan has already allotted 160 days to Barjatya to shoot his family drama

Sooraj Barjatya can’t stop smiling. The Hum Aapke Hain Koun filmmaker, who was anxiously waiting for Salman Khan to start shooting for his new family drama Bade Bhaiya, has finally managed to get a nice chunk of dates from the superstar. Hmmm… looks like the wait has been worth it! After more than a decade, the Dabangg actor has agreed to return to the banner to rework his popular screen name Prem.
We hear that this one’s gonna be a double whammy for Sallu fans – the 48-year-old actor will be seen in a double role 16 years after David Dhawan’s Judwaa. The Mentalactor is currently playing a double role as host for the promos of the controversial reality show Bigg Boss 7, but has not reprised that twin identity on the big screen for a very long time. As per the report, the Being Human actor has given Sooraj a cool 160 days for the shoot. And, as we just heard, Diana Penty is the number one choice of the makers for the lead opposite Sallu. Hmmm… from one Khan to another, huh, Diana?
Well, that’s really good news for Salman fans, but we really wonder whether Sallu miyaan will have five months time on his hands after completing Kick, considering the charges that have been filed against him in the 2002 hit and run case that are getting more serious by the day. Whatever it may be, we can’t wait to watch B-town’s superstar spreading double love (Prem) on screen once again. What say, peeps?

Indian Idol Junior: Was Shahrukh Khan the reason for Vishal-Shekhar’s absence?

Well, it certainly seems so! The music composer duo missed the Saturday episode of their reality show ‘coz of SRK

When Shahrukh Khan decided to rope in Indian rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh for the special lungi song, Chennai Express music composers Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani weren’t too happy. And they made their displeasure quite obvious by skipping the Indian Idol Junior episode which was graced by SRK, director Rohit Shetty andDeepika Padukone. The three were present on the show to promote their latest offering Chennai Express but what caught everyone’s attention was absence of Vishal-Shekhar. While we heard that the two were annoyed with SRK and Rohit for bringing Honey Singh on board and so decided to give this episode a miss.
And even as Vishal-Shekhar said that prior commitments forced them to skip the episode, some felt it was ironical that the duo decided to skip an episode which had the contestants singing tracks from their upcoming film. However post a report by a leading tabloid both the concerned parties have gone on a denial mode. Shekhar clarified on the micro blogging site, ”Reading a lot of rubbish in the press about us and srk. We couldn’t be on the show because of prior commitment. Srk is family, always!” Even King Khan went ahead and rubbished these rumours on twitter posting,” ur graciousness and our friendship will always be questioned by small minds. set them aside and be the rockstar u are. lov u.”
All’s well that ends well. Just when we thought that Honey Singh had extracted the sweetness out of SRK-Vishal-Shekhar’s friendship, it’s really sweet to see the friends come out in support of each other.
